Does Your Faith Really......

1 Samuel 17:38–40 CSB
38 Then Saul had his own military clothes put on David. He put a bronze helmet on David’s head and had him put on armor. 39 David strapped his sword on over the military clothes and tried to walk, but he was not used to them. “I can’t walk in these,” David said to Saul, “I’m not used to them.” So David took them off. 40 Instead, he took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones from the wadi and put them in the pouch, in his shepherd’s bag. Then, with his sling in his hand, he approached the Philistine.
Know Your Beginnings
Explain about Davids Beginnings Chapter 16:11.
1 Samuel 16:11 NLT
11 Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives.”
Your beginning is important because it’s the set-up for your future.
All that you are going through is designed for that day.
Zechariah 4:10 NLT
10 Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” (The seven lamps represent the eyes of the Lord that search all around the world.)
Every great person has had a basic beginning, What set them apart from everyone else is the commitment to stick to it. Stick-to-it-iveness, Persistent, Fanaticism.
Tell the story of the boy and his horse farm. (only spend 2 minutes)
Luke 1:37 NLT
37 For the word of God will never fail.”
You have to remember what God has promised you and what the devil has showed you most times through others. It is all working out for your good.
Know Your Enemy
Explain about David protecting the sheep from wild animals and David understanding Goliath.
1 Samuel 17:32–37 NLT
32 “Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!” 33 “Don’t be ridiculous!” Saul replied. “There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You’re only a boy, and he’s been a man of war since his youth.” 34 But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, 35 I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death. 36 I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! 37 The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the Lord be with you!”
Your enemy will always come the same way if you know your enemy. Have a great strategy and victory is eminently yours.
1 Peter 5:6–9 NLT
6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.
Sun Tzu says: To know your enemy you must become your enemy.
In other words you have to think how he thinks, process how he processes. plan how he plans. That’s the brilliance of God. He puts these trials into our lives to help develop us to become better versions of ourselves. Much like David each test we face is moving us closer to our victorious future.
Know Your Abilities
Explain how David knew what he was capable of, and not capable of.
1 Samuel 17:38–40 NLT
38 Then Saul gave David his own armor—a bronze helmet and a coat of mail. 39 David put it on, strapped the sword over it, and took a step or two to see what it was like, for he had never worn such things before. “I can’t go in these,” he protested to Saul. “I’m not used to them.” So David took them off again. 40 He picked up five smooth stones from a stream and put them into his shepherd’s bag. Then, armed only with his shepherd’s staff and sling, he started across the valley to fight the Philistine.
David knew he had never fought in anything like that and because of that he lacked the confidence to conquer his enemy.
What you train with is what you will triumph with.
Don’t get caught up in what seems like the right thing to do, to use or to be. But get caught up in knowing that what God has called you to do and who God has called you to be in and through Him is where your success lies.
Isaiah 40:31 NLT
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Your ability is tied to God and not yourself, Davids confidence was in his God and not himself, He prepared but ultimately he knew all of his doing was through God.
John 15:5 NLT
5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
This is where Goliath missed it. He came at David with man made instruments and tactics and then proclaimed his success by a man made God! What does David do he reminds everyone there this is not a fight between men, this is a fight between Gods! We as men are only representatives for our Gods and today we will see who is really the true victor.
1 Samuel 17:45–47 NLT
45 David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! 47 And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord’s battle, and he will give you to us!”
Know Your God
David spent plenty of time with his God and all his actions demonstrated it. This is why he was a man after God’s own heart. There is no shame, there is no condemnation, only victory in God. But you only know that when you search to find Him for real.
Proverbs 8:17 NLT
17 “I love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me.
While David was out in the pastures by himself he had a lot of time to be with God. To get to know his God through scripture and prayer and he had a lot of time to sing praises to his God. He had a lot of time to lift up his praises to his God. Before he ever went into battle with those Lions and Bears. I believe beyond a doubt that when David sang Psalm 103 (This is where the praise team will come in and sing Andre Crouch - Bless His Holy Name) I believe that before David every defended one sheep he sang this song to His God! I think as David collected those stones to slay Goliath He sang that song. (Sing the first half of the song)
To know God is to know that victory is on the other side of the storm. So run into it full throttle.
Psalm 27:1 NLT
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
This is what we see David do, he runs into the fight.
1 Samuel 17:48–49 NLT
48 As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him. 49 Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground.
The Buffalo is revered by the Native American community because when the storms on the open plan would come crashing down all other animals would run from the storm and into shelter. The Buffalo ran into the storm because it knew if it hit the storm head on it could cut the time down of being in it.
Listen some of you all need to learn how to cut the storm down by hit it head on. By hitting your knees and lifting up your voices to your God.
Know Your Victorious
David knew that he had overcome the giant, but he couldn’t stop there, he had to eliminate him completely. Because the victory was not just for him, but it was for all of God’s people.
1 Samuel 17:50–54 NLT
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword. 51 Then David ran over and pulled Goliath’s sword from its sheath. David used it to kill him and cut off his head. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they turned and ran. 52 Then the men of Israel and Judah gave a great shout of triumph and rushed after the Philistines, chasing them as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron. The bodies of the dead and wounded Philistines were strewn all along the road from Shaaraim, as far as Gath and Ekron. 53 Then the Israelite army returned and plundered the deserted Philistine camp. 54 (David took the Philistine’s head to Jerusalem, but he stored the man’s armor in his own tent.)
David’s Victory was a reminder of God’s continued favor to all who saw and heard it.
Your victories are a testimony of all that God has done and will do for you again.

You Are Victorious
Closing thoughts and Prayers
God has secured your future and erased your past. You are going to see a new thing happen in your life if you whole heartedly submit to His will and His way. Don’t buy into the lie of the giants in your life but understand that you are more then a conquer through Christ Jesus and that in and through it all you will learn to trust in Jesus and you will learn to trust in God as time goes on. Let’s Pray.
